20-Year-Old Drunk Driver From Turnersville Kills South Jersey Woman

WASHINGTON TWP. – For the accident that happened on Wednesday night, 20-year-old Robert J. Gardner Jr. was charged with vehicular homicide as the accident left a West Deptford woman dead.

Gardner Jr. was behind the wheel of a pickup truck drunk when he hit a vehicle driven by 31-year-old Cathleen L. LaBance. The accident happened at about 9:15 p.m.

LaBance was behind the wheel of a 2003 Toyota Solara and was going northbound on Route 42 near the Watson Drive intersection when her vehicle was hit by Gardner’s 2004 F-150 after it crossed the grass median from the southbound lanes.

The woman died on the accident spot.

Gardner didn’t sustain any injury in the accident and was charged with aggravated manslaughter and DWI. He is in Salem County Correctional Facility waiting for his hearing.

Route 42 was shut down for almost 6 hours as the cops had to investigate the case and had to know the reason of the accident.
