39-Year-Old New Jersey Man Pleads Guilty To Aggravated Assault By Motor Vehicle While DUI

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. – 39-year-old Timothy J. Babbitt is behind bars as he admitted that he caused a DUI accident that left a woman with life-threatening injuries.

On Thursday, he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault by motor vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol and related counts. He admitted that he was under the influence of alcohol when his van rear-ended a motorcycle travelling on Route 611 in Doylestown Township.

The accident happened on 12th of October and the woman was left with serious injuries for which she has undergone multiple surgeries. She was thrown away on the ground from her motorcycle due to the collision with the car.

Initially, Babbitt said he had consumed 2 beers. However, he changed his statement later in front of the judge and said that he bought 6 alcoholic beverages and 3 double vodkas.

He will have to spend almost 10 years in prison for the aggravated assault charge, which is graded as a second-degree felony.

He was brought in the court handcuffed, he was wearing a yellow prison jumpsuit. He was again sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility after his hearing as he didn’t have 10% of the $75,000 bail amount.
