50-Year-Old Upstate Man Faces Felony Charge After 7th DWI Stop

Date: March 25, 2015

According to the authorities, 50-year-old Patrick McCarthy faces a felony charge after allegedly being arrested for his 7th DWI this weekend.

He had 6 prior DWI convictions, before his stop early Sunday. According to State law, a DWI charge becomes a felony if the suspect has a previous conviction within the last 10 years and police told that 1 of McCarthy’s 6 convictions fits in that time period.

On Sunday, just before 1 a.m. on Route 55 near Skidmore Road in LaGrange, McCarthy was pulled over for failing to dim his high beams to oncoming traffic, told the authorities. Police observed signs of intoxication and arrested him at the scene.

McCarthy was released on an appearance ticket and is summoned to court on 24th of March. It is not confirmed if he had a lawyer for his case or not.
