71-Year-Old New Jersey Woman And Her Great Granddaughter Went Missing On Christmas

Date: January 9, 2017

According to news reports, authorities are in search of 2 individuals who went missing on Christmas.

The missing included 71-year-old Barbara Briley and her 5-year-old great-granddaughter. They both were expected to join their relatives for the holiday celebration in North Carolina.

According to New Jersey police, she was seen in a Virginia convenience store last where she stopped to ask directions on 25th of December.

Briley was recorded entering a gas station convenience store in Ruther Glen, Virginia, told investigators as they saw the surveillance footage.

They left their home on Saturday morning for Morven, North Carolina, where they planned to gather with the family for Christmas.

According to the police, she “appeared to be in good health”.

An employee at the gas station told that he assisted Barbara by telling her the directions. “I can’t believe that I actually physically spent time with her and helped her get to her destination and she didn’t make it”.

Her phone pinged in the Tri-Cities of Virginia for the last time on Tuesday, which is an area in the Greater Richmond Region.

The family members reported them missing when they didn’t reach the destination at the scheduled time. They tried to find them on their own for which they set out on I-95 and I-85. They also told that Barbara told them that she was lost in Virginia, which was an unacceptable thing because it was not the first time she was travelling to North Carolina.

She was behind the wheel of a silver 2014 Toyota Rav 4, with the New Jersey license plate C80 ELS.

Detectives from Hamilton as well as the New Jersey State Police, the Virginia State Police, and Morven police collaborated in the search.

5-year-old La’Myra’s father said, “It’s hard for me, trying so hard not to cry.”
