The Law Offices of James A, Abate is located in heart of downtown Somerville, New Jersey, the Somerset County seat, and just minutes from the Bridgewater and Somerville Joint Municipal Court House and Municipal Building.
Downtown Somerville is home to the Somerset County Superior Court, located in the beautiful, historic Somerset County Courthouse. It also provides a wide array of wonderful restaurants for everyone to enjoy! From Greek to Costa Rican, Dunkin’ Donuts to Starbucks, there’s something for everyone.
Bridgewater has grown immensely and is one of largest and most important municipalities in Somerset County, housing numerous corporations including Sanofi and Brother Printers. Bridgewater and Somerville are intersected by several highways, such as Route 22, Route 28, and Route 202-206, and Interstate Highways 78 and 287. Bridgewater is also home to the notorious Somerset Circle, which technically is not in Somerset, nor is it officially a circle. Many accidents occur on the “Circle,” and summonses issued are heard in the Bridgewater and Somerville Joint Municipal Court.
The Bridgewater and Somerville Police Departments maintain aggressive DWI and traffic patrols. The Court routinely hears speeding (39:4-98), Suspended License (39:3-40), and DWI (39:4-50) cases due to its proximity to several highways. Many accidents at the Somerset Circle result in charges of Careless Driving (39:4-97) and Reckless Driving (39:4-96). Several Bridgewater and Somerville roads are classified as “safe corridors” resulting in fines being doubled.
The Bridgewater Commons Mall houses the crème de le crème of high end shopping and dining and includes Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Lord and Taylor, and White House Black Market. As a result, the Bridgewater and Somerville Joint Municipal Court takes an aggressive stance against shoplifting crimes (2C:20-11).
Thanks to New Jersey Transit, you can take the Raritan Valley Line and hop off the train in Bridgewater in time to catch a Somerset Patriots baseball game! If you go just one stop further, you’ll find yourself in Somerville, just one block south of all the restaurants and shopping. If you are in need of a hospital, Robert Wood Johnson – Somerset serves the local community.
The Bridgewater Municipal Prosecutor, Christopher ‘Kip’ Bateman, is a member of the New Jersey Senate and places a high priority on the protection of the public. The Hon. William T. Kelleher, Jr. is not only the presiding judge of the Bridgewater and Somerville Joint Municipal Court, but is also the supervising judge of all of the municipal courts in Somerset, Warren and Hunterdon Counties. Should you need to appear in the Bridgewater and Somerville Joint Municipal Court, be sure to arrive early, as there is always a long line at the metal detector.
