Long Island man charged with DWI with children in vehicle

A Long Island man, Anthony Martarana, traveling with his 2 young children has been charged with DWI.

On Monday, he was arraigned on the charges.

Newsday report showed that a New York State trooper stopped him for driving at high rate of speed on the Northern State Parkway on Sunday. The officer smelled alcohol while interviewing him, according to the police.

His 3-year-old and 5-year-old children were in the motor vehicle.

He was issued sobriety tests which he failed and was charged with DWI. He was also charged for endangering the welfare of a child and traffic violations.

Martarana was held on $3,000 bond or $1,500 cash. It is not yet confirmed if he has hired an attorney.
