Two Men From New Jersey Charged With Murder And Sex Crimes

Date: March 3, 2016

23-year-old Derrick Powers and 33-year-old Charles Mosley have been charged with murder and sex crimes in relation to the death of a teenage girl, 15-year-old Nicole Angstadt. Her dead body was found by the police in the crawl space of her home.

On 1st of December, Angstadt was reported missing and her dead body was found by the cops on 14th of December.

Both men were taken into custody and were locked up on $1 million bail. Powers was transferred to the Atlantic County Justice Facility and Mosley was taken to the Cape May County Correction Center. They both were charged with:

  • First degree murder
  • First degree murder during the course of a sexual assault
  • First degree conspiracy to commit murder

Prior to this incident, Mosley was charged in connection with sexual relationship with Angstadt.

Initial information provided to the police about Andstadt’s disappearance was not correct as they were told that she was last seen on 29th of November. The police was not informed that her life might be in danger so they were not on alert.

Almost a week after she went missing, the cops contacted the family again. They told the cops about an abandoned home where the family had heard she was present. The cops visited the home twice, but found nothing. They found her dead body when they searched the home a third time. Her dead body was found by the cops 13 days after she died, because the family members ignored informing the police officers about the abandoned home at 100 Vermont Avenue when she went missing.

It is not yet confirmed if the offenders have hired a lawyer, told spokeswoman for the prosecutor.

In January, a GoFundMe page was set up for the family.
